Episode Related
Faking It
This Read is Going to Take Awhile
Lost Zebras Found
Bodies In Motion
Small Yet Satisfying

Post directly to the comm or comment on the original post. We'll post a round up of new responses at the end of each week. This challenge will run through Monday, August 16th.

And don't forget -- the comm is always open to InstaRecs. Read something amazing? Please share it here!

Challenge: Episode Related

Ok, fake!boyfriends and fake!girlfriends, the Faking it Challenge is over!

Let's talk episode related fanworks! I know, most fanworks are episode related in one way or another, but we're looking for those stories and images that are grounded in specific canonical events. So break out your favorite episode tags, those vids centered on one or two episodes, and the AUs that ask what if this had gone differently.

This challenge will run until Monday, 26 July.

Challenge: Faking It

Aaaand the This Read is Gonna Take a While challenge is now officially closed. Check out the recs from [livejournal.com profile] bluealbertaskys and [livejournal.com profile] 2corbies, and settle in for a nice long read.

Also, thanks to the fantabulous [livejournal.com profile] mamaffy for the wealth of recs shared as this month's guest reccer. Many, many awesome recs to be read in many, many genres, which is much, much fun. \o/

In other news, we have a new challenge this month. Feel free to post your recs right here as comments: we are gonna be faking it. Bring us all your stories where someone needs a pal to pretend to be his or her significant other. Wedding dates, family gatherings, class reunions, apartment leases, professional functions, making others jealous or other nefarious purposes... if there's fake dates or pretend boyfriends/girlfriends/husbands/wives, we are there. Rec away! You have until next Monday.

New Challenge: The Better Settle in 'Cause This Read is Gonna Take Awhile Challenge

The Lost Zebras Found challenge is over! More recs were contributed by [livejournal.com profile] omens and [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl -- please check them out.

A new challenge opens... now! It's summer in Chicago, which means it's time to create excuses to stay in the air conditioning. And since the due South/C6D big bang just went live, this seems like a great time to talk about long fic! Break out your favorite long fics, epics, big bangs and multi-parters. What stories keep you hooked through to the very end?

Once again, recs can be made here in comments or as their own posts. This challenge runs until Monday, June 28th!

Challenge reminder: Lost Zebras Found

With apologies for the belated reminder, the Lost Zebras Found challenge remains open through Monday, June 14. So far, only [livejournal.com profile] mergatrude has provided a comment rec -- but it's a great one. Go read, and then please rec your own favorites for blah days!

New Challenge: Lost Zebras Found

The Bodies in Motion Challenge is over! Thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] luzula for the rec in comments.

Our next challenge is Lost Zebras Found. Bring on the feel-good and the funny, the things you turn to on those nothing-goes-right days.

Challenge reminder: Bodies in Motion

One week remains in The Bodies in Motion challenge! Rec your favorite vids -- or moving art and fic -- either in a post or in comments.

New Challenge: Bodies in Motion

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Small Yet Satisfying challenge! During the second week, [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl and [livejournal.com profile] ifreet added more recs to comments of the challenge post, and [livejournal.com profile] keerawa posted a terrific rec set. Be sure to check them out!

Our new challenge is Bodies in Motion. Benton chasing criminals across roofs or wilderness. Ray Vecchio dancing with Irene. Ray Kowalski boxing with Levon. Frannie talking with her hands. Welsh getting out from behind his desk. Rec your favorite fanworks of the due South characters in motion -- whether that brings to mind an actual vid, a sketch of someone caught mid-gesture, or the perfect action scene in a fic. This challenge will run two weeks until Monday, May 31.

Challenge reminder: Small yet Satisfying

The Small Yet Satisfying challenge runs through Monday.

So far, we have recs by [livejournal.com profile] lucifuge_5 and [livejournal.com profile] mamaffy in the comments of the challenge post - don't miss them! And please share your recs for other short fic that should not be missed.

New Challenge: Small Yet Satisfying

May is here, and that means it's the end of our spring amnesty. Aw! It also means it's time to welcome a new guest reccer. Yay! This month, [livejournal.com profile] sam80853 is recommending AUs and Crossovers, so be sure to check them out!

Next up, the Small Yet Satisfying challenge. Let's show some love for short fics. Flashfic, ficlets, snippets, drabbles -- whatever the term, some dS authors pack a ton of emotion into only a handful of words.

Share a couple links in comments below, or stack up a set for a separate post. This challenge will run for two weeks.

Challenge reminder: April Amnesty

Just to remind everyone, we are currently in an amnesty period here at [livejournal.com profile] ds_recsredux. The amnesty will end next Monday.

For the list of open challenges and a place to make comment recs, please see the previous post.

The only additional recs we have to report so far are to this thread of the handsy challenge, where [livejournal.com profile] akamine_chan has added a pair of recs -- after identifying and linking to the drawing that [livejournal.com profile] luzula had been hunting for. Handy!

Challenge: April Amnesty!

Hi, everyone! Did you have a rec for a challenge but miss the deadline? Well, now's your (second) chance! [livejournal.com profile] ds_recsredux hereby declares an amnesty period for the rest of April -- you have until Monday, May 3rd to get those belated recs in.

From our poll, we've learned that while readers prefer separate posts, those of you actually making the recs are a bit more split. For the amnesty period, feel free to direct comments to this post or create your own separate posts, whichever makes you feel most comfortable. We just ask that you use the title of the specific challenge you are responding to as the subject line of your comment or post for clarity's sake -- one of us modly types will be posting a round-up of recs-so-far at the end of each week, which should help readers keep track.

Can't remember all the challenges that have run this year? Here's a handy list, with links to the complete descriptions:

due South Sekrit Santa
Icons
2009 Gen and Pre-Relationship Fic
2009 Smut
It's All About You!
The Heart of the Matter
Handsy
You Make Me Feel Like Dancing
Crossovers
Unexpected Skills
Clueless
Crossdressing

And as a general reminder, the comm is always open to Insta-Recs. If you read/hear/see/watch something awesome, you can share it anytime -- regardless of the current challenge.

New Challenge: Crossdressing

Hey all, the Clueless Challenge is officially closed. We now make way for the Crossdressing Challenge. Go on and rec us the fanworks of your choice in the comments to this post where Mounties, cops, civilian aides and others just plain wear whatever they want... and what happens after. You have until next Monday. Enjoy!

Clueless Challenge Extended

We're extending the Clueless Challenge for another week. Please rec your favorite stories about due South characters in need of a clue -- or catching one!

Clueless Challenge and Poll Reminder

Reccers, readers and drivers-by, if you haven't yet let us know your deepest, darkest rec-related thoughts in [livejournal.com profile] ifreet's fancy poll please do drop by and tick those little ticky boxes to your heart's content. We really want [livejournal.com profile] ds_recsredux to work for you, and only you can let us know what you'd like to see. The future of the comm is in your hands!

And now for your challenge: cluelessness. Clueless would-be love interests are a classic in fics for a reason. So this week, we want you to rec us fanworks where the characters need... well, a clue to help them waltz, trip, stumble or fall into romance. You know you love them. Now's your chance to share with the class!

You have until next Monday. Have fun!!

Challenge reminder

Slightly overshadowed by last week's poll (by the way, THANK YOU for all the input!) was last week's Unexpected Skills Challenge.

So we're extending it one more week -- look for a new challenge Monday. In the meantime, the challenge encompasses any character and any skill, so please share your recs!

Admin: Pop quiz

Okay, not exactly. But [livejournal.com profile] dessert_first and I have been trying to figure out what's fun, what's working, and what's not, and... well, we need more feedback. So! Below the cut, please find a short poll about the comm. The individual responses will be visible only to us modly types, in case that would affect your answers.

Comments are open -- tell us what we're not considering! Mention that thing you liked in some other comm/fandom!

Stop! Poll time. )

Challenge: Unexpected Skills

Crossovers are so over. Thanks to everyone who participated in the challenge!

Secret abilities and hidden talents are the theme for this week. Cooking, hang gliding, MacGyvering, or tying a cherry stem in a knot sans hands -- due South characters have a variety of hidden facets. Break out the fanworks that reveal a secret skill.

Challenge: You Make Me Feel Like Dancing

It's the dancing challenge! Whether it's the smooth waltz or the horizontal mambo, let's bring on the fanworks where characters move to the beat. Dancing is a celebration of life, and we want you to serve it up Due South style!

You have until next Monday to rec the night away...

New Challenge: The Handsy Challenge

Whether it's Ray Vecchio's capable hands, Ray Kowalski's expressive hands, or Benton Fraser just rolling up his shirtsleeves, hands are hot.

So let's appreciate those hands -- and since February is nearly over, let's make this a multi-media challenge. Share that fic about hands in new places -- whether that means hand-holding, hand-wringing or a handjob. Link that sketch that captures the shape of someone's fingers. Direct us to a hand-focused picspam. Or start one here -- whatever makes you happy!

Now, let's get handsy!
