Insta-rec: "Your Protector", by exeterlinden

Title: Your Protector
Author: [livejournal.com profile] exeterlinden
Pairing: Bob, Buck and Caroline gen
Rating: PG
Length: 7500 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: This fic was written for me for [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan, but I'm not letting that stop me from reccing it, because I love it to pieces and want others to read it, too. The thing I love most about it is the deep (but unspoken) affection between all three of them, and I also love all the details of winter survival. I don't want to say too much about the plot, though, because there's a twist at the end.

In conclusion, go read this now, because it is awesome!

Insta-rec: "the book of hours", by omphale23

Title: the book of hours
Author: [livejournal.com profile] omphale23
Pairing: Stella Kowalski/Ray Kowalski
Rating: R
Word count: ~1050 words

This was recently posted on [livejournal.com profile] stop_drop_porn, and I just had to rec it. It's about Stella and her relationship to Ray K, especially after their divorce. I love Stella here, because she's so complicated and human. And the story is beautifully written; listen to this, for example: She'd take him back to her place, her own rooms, and unlock the door and they would make it all the way to the hallway, sometimes, and to the kitchen, others, and no further than the snick of the lock and her skirts wrinkled around her waist, twice—had she been counting.

Or this: She settled into comfort, her desires still and small and with no corners to catch her heart.

Insta-Rec: Dawn, by Aria (F/K)

Okay, I'm cashing in an Insta-Rec card for this one. This year's dSSS yielded some amazing stories, as always, but I of course have a soft spot for the one written for meeee. However, that's not why you should go read it (or, heck, re-read it if you have already).

It's because it's Ray Kowalski, with everything he's ever dreamed of hovering just beyond his reach, and because it's Fraser, just trying to do the right thing while still keeping that part of himself safe from the inevitable pain we invite when we let people into our hearts. And because there's a kid, and pancakes, and Canada.

Go, read! Dawn, by the wonderful Aria.
