Okay, I'm cashing in an Insta-Rec card for this one. This year's dSSS yielded some amazing stories, as always, but I of course have a soft spot for the one written for meeee. However, that's not why you should go read it (or, heck, re-read it if you have already).
It's because it's Ray Kowalski, with everything he's ever dreamed of hovering just beyond his reach, and because it's Fraser, just trying to do the right thing while still keeping that part of himself safe from the inevitable pain we invite when we let people into our hearts. And because there's a kid, and pancakes, and Canada.
Go, read! Dawn, by the wonderful Aria.
