Why I'm reccing this fic: So Sprat was one of those people who came into the fandom and
immediately saw the draw of Ray/Ray. I LOVE people like that. ♥ She wrote this one fairly early on, I think, and it remains one of my favorite Ray/Ray fics and one which I periodically go back and re-read. Kowalski is undercover to catch a cult leader and he ends up naked (the story comments:
Ray, watching, can’t help thinking how these neo-Nazis always manage to get naked and touching, like that’s the real goal of their weird little rituals.) and in danger and Vecchio and the good guys come in at the nick of time and just -
Okay. What I love is how WORRIED Vecchio is about Kowalski, and how Sprat just totally nails that these boys show their worry and concern and LOVE through hot, desperate, rough sex. In a completely inappropriate place, because they can't HELP it, and there are cops right outside the door, and they need to be
quiet but can't and just -
It's perfect, she GETS it, and the sex in the story is up-against-the-wall worried, I-love-you sex and it KILLS me every time.
(What gets me more than the sex, even? Is when Vecchio puts his fancy overcoat over Kowalski's shoulders. *HEART*)

Why I'm reccing this fic: All right. I know. Shut up already about the Gardino love. Except I CAN'T. And it's all Dira's fault. I was betaing the
Hockey AU for her and she and I talked a lot about the backstory and all the stuff we don't know about Kowalski's history. And she proceeded to write this, because I begged her to, about pre-hockey-AU Kowalski and Gardino. Last day of the season, no more hockey for a while. They are drunk and they are depressed and they are clearly in love, though they can't even let themselves know that. They can't even let themselves know that what they are doing is, in fact, hello,
gay. It's just - it's
them, it's what they
do, and it's sad and it's desperate and it is SCORCHINGLY HOT.
Front-seat sex, in Gardino's Malibu, parked outside of Ray's apartment, where he's going to go home afterwards, to Stella. Because he's not gay if he's married, right? This is just buddies.
It's fucking
heart-breaking. And just - they never
kiss. That kills me, it
kills me. THIS is the fic that turned me into a Kowalski/Gardino girl, people.
…you're all afraid to click now, aren't you?
