Feathers, It's A Wonderful Christmas Carol, Leaving Normal

Title: Feathers

Pairing: F/K
Rating: PG-13
Length: 2,171 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: Two words: feather duster. This is PG-13, but it is seriously the kinkiest PG-13 I have ever seen. And that is not a bad thing at all.

Fraser tipped back the seat to let Dief climb in the back, and got in next to Ray. It was amazing, he thought, how seeing Ray’s profile from this angle made you really appreciate the length of his eyelashes. The skin around his eyes was pale and fine-grained, and Fraser has a sudden urge to reach out and touch with his fingertips, to see if it was as soft as it looked.

“…so waddya want, Frase?”

Fraser jumped. Dear God, was his desire for Ray that transparent?

“I’m sorry?”

“For dinner, Fraser. What do you want for dinner?”

“Oh!” Unreasonable, he thought, to feel quite this relieved. “I’m sure pizza will be fine, Ray.”

Why I'm reccing this fic: Because Fraser doesn't want to risk their relationship and Ray is (justifiably) pissed at him, and Bob has to step in, and it really just hits you in the gut with how much they need each other. And then it makes it all better :D

It is a perfect relationship. We live in each other's pockets, so to speak, but there is no danger of it getting messy. Certainly, there is no danger of getting shot in the back by your best friend as the only way to stop you from committing the worst mistake of your entire life. No. It is safe. Contained. And except for the occasional lapse where the physical threatens--like now--it is, and I think it always will be, the most gratifying relationship of my life.

Ah, there's the glance, the buff of his knuckles against my arm...

Dear. God! He did it. He swiped across my mouth with his and even that brief touch...

I suppress the violent urge to slap his face and scoot my chair away immediately. "I must go," I manage to eek out in between labored breaths.

An equally out of breath Ray shoves me back in my chair. He couldn't look more hurt than if I had slapped him.

Why I'm reccing this fic: Possibly my favorite second-time fic ever. The first time went entirely and horribly wrong, and Ray and Fraser both want to fix things, but they have entirely different ideas about how.

They go into the bedroom, and Fraser gets them both off as efficiently and impersonally as if he was defusing a bomb. He cuts the red wire, the blue wire, and the clock stops at 00:01. In theory, this means that no one gets hurt and, okay, maybe Ray’s not on the verge of exploding anymore, but now it’s like he’s this bundle of fucking dynamite, just waiting for another fuse.

Fraser doesn’t seem happy or sad. He stares at Ray for a good long while, then offers to take the tape back to the video store. Ray offers to drive him. Fraser politely declines. Fraser leaves.

Ray lies on the bed and considers the various options for killing himself. In the end, he falls asleep instead.
