DS Match Fic: The Harder They Fall
Nervously delurking to rec the first fic by Team Reality because it's just that good.

Why I'm reccing this fic: For many reasons
1. It is beautifully written in a way that makes you feel every moment of it. The language is just gorgeous.
2. One of my favorite types of fic is hurt/comfort where Fraser is hurt, and this is a wonderful example of that.
3. It was written for Team Reality, and it absolutely celebrates reality. Reality is scary and messy and imperfect. Ray and Fraser are all of these things, and that is what makes them so beautiful. They get hurt, they make mistakes, there is distance and anger and regret. But most importantly there is love. And there is nothing better than love that can survive reality. I want this to be there future pain and imperfection and all.
4. It's also really funny in places.
Fraser had been different in the six months since the accident. He spent a lot of time staring off into space, thinking about whatever deep things people with brains bigger than Ray's thought about. Ray didn't want to ask. His intuition was telling him that maybe Fraser was thinking about that talk they'd had, about being too old for the job. If Fraser was thinking about leaving him, Ray didn't want to hear it.
Sometimes Fraser got so lost wherever he went that he didn't even notice when Ray said his name. Ray found himself doing stuff he knew would irritate the hell out of Fraser, like snapping his fingers in front of his face. It was almost comforting when Fraser finally grabbed his hand one day and pushed him away with a little more force than was, strictly speaking, necessary.
Yet, for all of that, Ray was comfortable. As long as Fraser was there, nothing had changed. Then, when Ray least expected it, everything did.
