I was just wondering if in the future, could there possibly be more challenges that allow for the possibility of gen fic? Because I've been kind of hesitant to join just because most of the challenges have been geared to allow for porn. Or maybe just a week of a gen challenge, if possible?

Regarding your other concern, we try to keep things pretty balanced here, with porn challenges and non-porn challenges. And for gen fic, I mean, we have had a lot - 6 Degrees, Crossovers, New Writers, Fraser POV, Tent Fic, Favorites of 2006, and more - that easily allow for gen recs. It's up to the reccers to rec what interests them.
