Admin Post: The AU challenge!

Everyone likes a good AU, right? Or, if you're like me, you resisted them for a VERY long time, then came to love them with a red-hot passion. Or maybe you just have one or two that REALLY do it for you.

Because, well, what isn't good about AUs? Ray and Fraser as hockey players! Fraser as a Hawaiian geologist! Ray as a dance instructor! Ray and Fraser as parents! Professor Kowalski! Ray and Fraser on the African Queen!

So, rec us your favorite AU! Why do you love it? Why should Ray Kowalski be a professor until the END OF TIME (um, yeah)? Tell us!

Why I'm reccing this fic: It's gorgeous. It's an AU set in Hawaii, wherein Ray is a cop on vacation, and Fraser is a geologist, studying volcanoes. One evening, a very inebriated Ray nearly falls of a cliff, and is only saved by this gorgeous guy who should be doing toothpaste commercials. (Ray calls him "Pearly" in his head before he learns his name.) Things go from there. I never really had any interest in Hawaii before reading this fic, but the stunning language describes the lushness and beauty of Hawaii with such love and perfection, it's impossible not to feel transported there, and love the stay - I never wanted to leave this fic. It's just so beautiful. This is one of my favorite AUs ever.

Why I'm reccing this fic: Because how can you not love Professor!Ray and Grad Student!Ben? And because Ray tells Ben - biggest overacheiever ever Ben - that he has to rewrite his thesis.

And because of lines like, "I only have so much left in me to say no to you, Ben." And you can feel the tension between them. Liz does an incredible job with creating the sexual tension and the want and the need between them. God, she's good!
