Admin Post: Comfort Challenge!

You guys did BRILLIANTLY awesome at last week's Stop Drop Rec challenges - I applaud you!

This week we're back to our regularly scheduled reccing program! And what we have for you is something we all need: Comfort Fic. Interpreted however you like! What's the one fic you go back to time and again, an old favorite that is just soothing and makes you happy? Or tell us your favorite fic where the guys comfort each other, make each other feel better, sit on the couch and do each other's hair and talk about boys lean on each other. Either! Both! All of the above!

Why I'm reccing this fic: This story, more than any other, makes me sigh happily. It's Christmastime in dS land, and Fraser shows up at Ray's apartment. There is hot chocolate, tree-decorating, banter, sharing of Christmas fantasies, and a very sweet first kiss.

Length: Longy long - allow a good hour to read each part.
Why I'm Reccing This Fic: This is a few-years-down-the-line-post-COTW story which starts with Ray being badly injured in Chicago and going to find Fraser for sanctuary and great sex. The characterisations of both men are wonderful and the development of their relationship is lovely as we see the renewal of their friendship as they deal with Ray's injuries then become something more. But it is the atmosphere and the description of Fraser's town (Owlcreek) which really does it for me here - it is perfectly Fraser! It is the NWT Bedford Falls, where Fraser is surrounded by kooky caring people who take Ray under their wing, and it just makes me feel safe and cared for. The sequel Tapestry is equally as good, perhaps better, as it concentrates on what happens when bad people try to destroy this haven, and examines the effects on Fraser, RayK and the visiting RayV.
