Why I love Benton Fraser, RCMP, by [livejournal.com profile] akamine_chan.

I could write a huge essay about this, which is what I suspect that [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9 wants, but I'm not even supposed to be here, with my [livejournal.com profile] ds_c6d_bigbang fic staring me down...

So, I'll keep this short and sweet.

I love Benton Fraser because he's imperfect. He's very intelligent, but socially inept. He's beautiful, but runs away from people who are attracted to him. He's a great believer in Justice, but he almost ran away with a murderer, almost sacrificed his partner and friend for her. He's imperfect and in my eyes that makes him alive and real and human.

Title: Aloft
Author: [livejournal.com profile] purna
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: NC17
Length: ~2,500 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: because it's a great example of the person behind the uniform, the human being behind the mask. It's an exploration of Fraser's life as told by his body and the scars it bears. It's about Fraser's fears, and motivations, and courage. It's about being human and learning to live with that.

Title: A Searching And Fearless Inventory
Author: [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9
Pairing: Fraser
Rating: R
Length: ~2,000 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: because it's a very different, complex look at the man Fraser might be. The thought that Fraser might be an alcoholic had never, ever crossed my mind, but [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9 paints such a clear, sharp, painful picture that it really feels like canon. And so we have Benton Fraser, RCMP, recovering alcoholic. Alive, but not living. Beautiful and heartbreaking and broken.

Title: Accessory
Author: [livejournal.com profile] keerawa
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: G
Length: 300 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: [livejournal.com profile] keerawa is the mistress of the dark!fic, and this is no exception. Here, she peels back Fraser's skull and shows us the inside of his brain, the complex machinations he engages in to preserve his narrow sense of morality, his deliberate turning away from the truth.
