We love challenges! We have ongoing ones like [livejournal.com profile] ds_flashfiction and [livejournal.com profile] ds_snippets, and regular ones like the Due South Seekrit Santa exchange. We even have irregular ones like [livejournal.com profile] stop_drop_porn. And then we have spontaneous outpourings of love for a character, or a wild idea, which leads to a bunch of prompts, leading to some awesome fic.

So where is all that fic? Well, sometimes people will post them to their own journals and/or archive them. But often it's fun to see the stories in the context of the community which inspired them. Check out these past, and sometimes still current, challenge communities. Add more in the comments!

[livejournal.com profile] getfraserlaid had a billion ideas for, well, getting Fraser laid.

[livejournal.com profile] rayk97s was a challenge about Ray Kowalski based on lyrics by the Old 97's.

[livejournal.com profile] vecchiofest - Ray Vecchio has his own stories to tell.

The Get Frannie Laid challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] frannievecchio, because girls just wanna have fun!

[livejournal.com profile] inuvikdotcom A Due South fic challenge community, inspired by the fabulous and informative website of Inuvik, Canada.

[livejournal.com profile] ds_northernnews used headlines and articles from the CBC Northern News as inspiration.

[livejournal.com profile] ds_aprilfools is an occasionally recurring (hint, hint!) challenge for writing a fic a day for the month of April, complete with a prompt table.

[livejournal.com profile] ds_fang_or_fur is not so much a challenge, but a community for mixing the supernatural with our boys. Hey, there's ghosts in canon, so why not werewolves, angels or whatever you can imagine?

[livejournal.com profile] ds_shakespeare is a challenge to write a fic or create an artwork based on a Shakespeare quote.

[livejournal.com profile] ds_harlequin had a bunch of harlequin-esque prompts for people to write dS characters into.

[livejournal.com profile] out_of_con_txt is a community for fans not attenting con.text, and included a ficlet exchange.

[livejournal.com profile] ds_con_envy was likewise a community created for non-con-goers. Hee! I mean, for people who aren't going to cons. There have been a couple of fic exchanges run there, so try searching the tags for "fic" or for pairings or authors that take your fancy.

And a couple of Six Degrees comms!

[livejournal.com profile] greatestfits was a multifandom challenge based on Headstones lyrics. Also known as The Classy Motherf*cker Challenge. \hugh/

[livejournal.com profile] hcl_fic was a Hard Core Logo fic exchange. Some great stuff in there.

Midsummer Santa is a six degrees fic exchange that's been run over various years:
[livejournal.com profile] midsummer_fic
[livejournal.com profile] midsummer2006
[livejournal.com profile] midsummer2007
[livejournal.com profile] midsummer2009

Happy reading!
