I'm back with more Death, Near-Death, After-Death, and Not-Really-Dead stories. I'll start with the heaviest angst pieces, and move on to the happy ones by the end.
Breaking, by Viridian5, is a short and brutal death-fic. It packs one hell of a emotional wallop. (F/K, R, short) Thanks to
busaikko for finding this one.
rayne_wind's Too Late for Dreams is the first in the 'Lost Chance' trilogy. You know those post-CotW stories where Ray and Fraser have a communication break-down in the Frozen North, Ray returns to Chicago, and they are both alone and miserable until finally they get back together? This is not one of those stories. The entire series is excellent, and very well-named. I'm particularly fond of Jennifer, Ray's partner. This one hurts, but it helps bring you back, too. (F/K, K/OC, PG through NC-17; the three in the trilogy are 36, 53, and 122kb)
Dysmas, by
troyswann, is an AU in which Fraser left with Victoria. The affection and trust between Vecchio and Fraser shine through this entire story. It's sad, yet redeeming. (gen, PG, 4600 words)
An Incident Along a Poorly Guarded Border, by Kindkit, is a story set during the Quest. As Ray puts it, "adventure is really just a word for almost dying. He figured that being with Fraser, the 'almost' part was guaranteed, but now he's got to wonder." Don't worry, there's a happy ending!
spuffyduds' After is probably my favorite death-fic of all. Some sad moments, but this a story that makes my heart sing. Truly joyful. (F/K, NC-17, 2600 words)
