May is here, and that means it's the end of our spring amnesty. Aw! It also means it's time to welcome a new guest reccer. Yay! This month, sam80853 is recommending AUs and Crossovers, so be sure to check them out!

Next up, the Small Yet Satisfying challenge. Let's show some love for short fics. Flashfic, ficlets, snippets, drabbles -- whatever the term, some dS authors pack a ton of emotion into only a handful of words.

Share a couple links in comments below, or stack up a set for a separate post. This challenge will run for two weeks.

mizface's Krkravec 'verse snippets are *so* very amazing that they deserve tons of love. Kkravec (http://community.livejournal.com/ds_snippets/200483.html) sets up the AU in which RayK is a shapeshifter (in this case, a raven). I want to rec some recent snippets that I loved. If you read ds_snippets in the last couple of weeks, you probably know them.
- exbex wrote a great x-over-universe that couples Lew Ashby (Californication) and Renfield Turnbull. It's charming to see their relationship develop and they are very in character. She made me ship them hard. - spuffyduds just finished the bedverse, a snippet series that features Fraser and Kowalski (first time). I can't praise it highly enough, it has perfect voices. Finally, a long time favorite of mine, a very powerful story that made me so, so sad. (Fraser/Kowalski, 845 words): Photograph (http://mondschein1.livejournal.com/26766.html) by mondschein1. She read a great podfic version (http://audiofic.jinjurly.com/photograph) also. Mind that there are warnings in the text version. I heard the podfic unwarned and kinda liked it that way.

Short and sexy, and all fairly recent:

mikeys_grrl's kinkmeme responses. Really, all of them are good reads, but I'm particularly reccing Fraser/Kowalski. Sex in a semi-public place (http://mikes-grrl.livejournal.com/134396.html#cutid3), because Fraser and books are my secret OTP, and F/K/V, with Kowalski sandwiched between F and V (http://mikes-grrl.livejournal.com/134396.html#cutid1), because... well, here: Somehow, he always ended up in the middle. He could plan things out or let them just happen, he could beg to be on the bottom or on the top or hell, off making popcorn, but he always, always ended up in the middle. Not in the rest of their lives, nope, there it was Fraser and Vecchio mano-a-mano with Kowalski for added commentary or, often, referee. In bed, though, he was the DMZ zone. That this relationship has some problems is the big elephant in the (bed)room -- but Kowalski addresses it in his own inimitable fashion.

And then she wrote Open (http://akamine-chan.livejournal.com/158538.html), F/K, for meresy's recent C6D Porn Tag, which I again love for the relationship issues tucked in around the heat.
