Title: Beside You
Author: Zen&Nancy
Pairing: Joe/Billy
Rating: NC-17
Length: Mediumish
Why I love this: Oh, where to start? Well, for a start this is Joe and Billy, when they're just starting out, told from an absolutely perfect Joe POV. I mean completely perfect, this story is so in Joe and Billy's skins, and although Joe's high on drugs, and they're on this crappy mattress in these crappy digs, and they never communicate normally, they fit, and it's wonderful.

Title: The Distance Between
Author: aukestrel
Pairing: Joe/Fraser
Rating: NC-17
Length: Pretty long
Why I love this Story: Ok, so this is on the offchance that one of you hasn't read this story *g*. And if you haven't? What on earth are you doing? Go, read it! This is a post Victoria's Secret Fraser, and a pre film Joe, and it's just so painful, and so real it takes my breath away. Fraser's understandably in a pretty bad way in this fic, and Auk really gets Fraser, gets under his skin, gets this need for punishment and atonement that Fraser has, and Joe gets that, too. Joe, for all of his punkish self delusion, for all of his flaws sees right through Fraser, and the power struggle that ensues is complicated, and hot, and a great insight into two characters that maybe aren't that different after all.

Title: Burning down the Mother-Fucking House
Author: Sister Wolf
Pairing: None really, Joe/RayK preslash ish
Rating: R for language (dude, this is Joe Dick!)
Length: Medium
Why I love this fic: This had me sold on the premise: Instead of Fraser, Joe Dick is attached as liason to the CPD, and, in his own words. 'My name’s Constable Joe Mulgrew, Royal Canadian Motherfucking Police. I first came to fucking Chicago on the trail of the spooge-sucking fuckfaces who offed my fucking old man, and for reasons that don't need fucking exploring at this fucking juncture, asshole, I stayed '. So when Ray Vecchio goes undercover, and Ray Kowalski switches places, Joe is understandably confused. What follows is completely wonderful crack a thoughtful meditation on place and identity, using the switch between the Rays to allow Joe to consider the transitory nature of his own existence. There is another story, E-Fucking-Clipse, which follows this one, and is just as special, but if you're looking for a way of spraying coffee on your keyboard, this is a pretty sure bet.
