Title: From Afar
Author:TrueEnough
Pairing:F/K
Rating:"R with NC-17 aspirations" Author's rating
Length:Nicely long
Why I'm reccing this fic:Truthfully, one of the most poetic and moving dS stories I've read. Sicky!Fraser is a fairly small part of the story but is just one more way we get to see the love between two amazingly crafted characters. The relationship between Fraser and Ray is optimistic without being overtly romantic. The author claims to be first time and unbetaed. Of that I am deeply suspicious because the emotional journey is simply masterful.
Monday morning I sat up in bed and threw off the covers. I was uncomfortably hot and tugged at the cold, soaking wet long johns I was wearing. Sweat soaked my hair, rolling down my face and collecting at the base of my throat. Agitated, I tugged again at my clothes, the buttons slipping from my fingers.
Ray staggered into the bedroom from the bathroom looking disheveled and half awake. “Okay, okay. I got you.”
As he quickly unbuttoned me he asked, “Do these come with zippers?”
I answered him seriously, “No, I don’t believe so.”

Date: 2007-04-12 11:18 pm (UTC)I'm also very flattered by your doubt. Discovering slashfiction created a space for me to try and write about characters that really touched and inspired me. Writing that story was like finally being able to express things that I wanted to for probably my whole life and within the context of characters that are rich and complex all on their own. They were a joy to explore and if the story is any good at all, the lions share of the credit goes to them.
::big grin:: I also wanted to confirm that the curvy lima-bean sofa you imagined is spot on. It's more abstract art than lazy-boy until you sit next the right guy.
Thank you thank you.

Date: 2007-04-13 11:00 am (UTC)That is a huge compliment because as much as I wanted to explore them I also wanted to be true to character. Canon was so generous with the subtext that I felt like I only had to veer a couple degrees over this way and not far at all. :)
No need for detail. It just makes me very happy that enjoyed so much of it. Thank you!
