I add my wails to the choir of "impossible!" It's terrible to try to pick only 3 fics of my heart for this fandom. I don't know what tack to use to approach the question, whether it should be the things that I have reread the most, the things that have pressed my buttons the hardest, the things that have surprised me and therefore found a sneaky way into a special corner of fondness. With my head still spinning with possibilities, I have to just close my eyes and pick three.

Title: Auld Acquaintance
Author: [livejournal.com profile] secretlybronte
Characters: RK/BF
Rating: PG
Length: Approximately 3000 words
Why I'm reccing this fic:

Fraser is alone on New Year's Eve, until Ray calls and asks him to come out with him, and to wear something "classy."

This fic is a delight, and I think that it got a bit lost in the holiday shuffle this year. This is a "new classic" for me, and fills much of the same niche that Dining Out by [livejournal.com profile] kalena has in the race for my heart. I totally dig the going- on -a -date trope, and this story has a very direct, crisp style that really makes it feel fresh and modern. I love the descriptions of the clothing, the food, the energy of the party. It is sweet, romantic, and great fun.

Auld Acquaintance

Title: Relax
Author: Dira Sudis
Characters:F/K
Rating: adult
Length: about 12,000 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: This is another older classic that always grabs me hard whenever I reread it. Dira has such a talent for taking themes that seem odd or a little shocking (involuntary hypnosis, tear fetish, etc.) and making it into something fascinating and in character.

After his lapse in Seeing is Believing where he can't resist using hypnosis recreationally, Fraser accidentally finds that he has the ability to hypnotize Ray during ordinary conversation.

Relax

Title: Eight Sessions
Author: Speranza-[livejournal.com profile] cesperanza
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: NC-17
Length: Very Long
Why I'm reccing this fic: I usually resist the urge to rec Speranza's fic. Her stories already have terrific word-of-mouth, and almost everyone is steered toward them from the moment they decide they want to read Due South fic. (I know that there is nothing so frustrating, too, as checking recs and finding no surprises, and nothing new to read.) All that being said, I've just got to go with my strong feelings about this fic.

You probably haven't reread this one for awhile, right? Maybe you've forgotten that although this story is lighter on the graphic sex than, say, Hanged Man , this story has some amazing character moments for both Fraser and Ray.

Ray and Fraser must attend eight mandated therapy sessions while Ray is under investigation by IA for shooting several suspects in a confrontation. They have very different experiences of therapy, but find themselves facing some truths about their lives, and learning how to tell the truth to each other. Fraser's meltdown is poignant and obvious, and involves pie and bowling, but Ray's quieter, more internal meltdown is equally compelling.

Title: All the Comforts of Home
Author: Denise Raymond ([livejournal.com profile] rattlecatcher)
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski, Vecchio/Stella
Rating: NC-17
Length: ~53,300 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: I adore this future for Fraser and Ray! They're on their way to happily ever after in remote British Columbia, until Vecchio stumbles into the middle of a Salish ritual they're participating in and potentially disrupts their lives. We get to watch as Vecchio slowly comes to terms with his best friend's new relationship, and even turns to Kowalski for Stella advice. Fraser and Ray are so wonderfully, deeply in love, here, and have found a true home in the community. Denise describes wonderful, realistic original characters like Elder Mike Bluemountain and his daughter Peggy, and rotates the POV between the two Rays and Fraser, all perfectly in character. (I have to confess I'm especially taken with Kowalski's quick temper he's constantly reining in, in order to process, but then I'm particularly taken with Kowalski. ;-) There's even more in the followup Chicago Tales, in which the rest of the couple's old friends deal, or not. The two stories describe intense emotions believably, and deliver a happy ending that's realistic rather than syrupy.

Title: Ten Things to Get Used To
Author: Speranza ([livejournal.com profile] cesperanza)
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: NC-17
Length: ~6,900 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: Speranza has pulled together ten exquisite portraits of life in the Northwest Territories for Fraser and Ray. Ray's adjusting to life in the north, and Fraser's adjusting to life with a lover—with this lover. The vignettes range from cute and sweet, to wonderfully porntastic, to piercingly insightful about these characters or about small town life. And every single one feels fresh and absolutely real.

Title: Pas de Deux
Author: Sihaya Black ([livejournal.com profile] sihayab)
Pairing: Fraser/Victoria, Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: R
Length: ~48,600 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: What makes this an AU of my heart? I mean Ray and ballroom dancing, that's always beautiful. But Ray being stuffed full of food at Stosh's, and then rocking the floor with his polka and zbojnicki? Is pure Polish gold. Plus Sihaya has done a wonderful job of weaving into this alternate universe Stella-the-ex, Turnbull-the-fanboy, Vecchio-the-partner, and a painfully vicious Victoria, with both her criminal and amorous deceptions of Fraser. And even though this Ray isn't a cop, his integrity, courage, loyalty and open heart are the Ray we know and love.

Title: Ordinary Days
Author: MarySueFanfic/[livejournal.com profile] busaikko
Characters: Ray Kowalski, Fraser
Rating: R
Length: 2,700 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: In this story, Ray is caring for Fraser, who's internal landscape has overwhelmed his ability to interact with the outside world. Ray's quiet, matter-of-fact narration of what his life has become seeps into your heart. It is emotionally devastating, yes. But this is also the most uplifting story I have ever read, in any genre. Truly unforgettable.

Title: Vibrato
Author: Salieri/[livejournal.com profile] troyswann
Characters: Dief, Fraser, Fraser Sr., some guy named Phil
Rating: PG
Length: 600 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: This is a tiny little 600 word ficlet written from Diefenbaker's POV, in which almost nothing happens. But the eerie, lyrical imagery has stayed with me since I first read it, and the implications of Dief's perception of Dead!Bob are subtly terrifying.

No taste - it'd be half the story.

Vibrato.

Title: Stalker
Author: Rentgirl2/ [livejournal.com profile] therentgirls
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: PG
Length: 12,800 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: Where else can you find a completely in-character Bad!Ben, despair, love, redemption, and one hell of an unreliable narrator? I think it speaks to me on a personal level, because this is a story about Fraser feeling guilty about harming others by misusing his gifts. And, really, that's the only thing worth feeling guilty about.

Like [livejournal.com profile] bertybertle and [livejournal.com profile] sam80853 before me, I had an almost impossible time picking out three to rec. Title: Busted
Author: Anonymous CO
Pairing: F/K
Rating: NC17
Length: Long at ~60k words
Why I'm reccing this fic: There are so many reasons why I love this story. The main reason, though, is Ray. He is so believable in this story; his voice is clear and right. This is Ray in all his possibilities - prickly, wounded, strong, loving, broken, sexy, stubborn, tender. Alive and open.

I love how easy it is between Fraser and Ray. Their partnership is strong and they have an unbreakable bond between them. There are parts of their relationship that aren't simple, they fight and they argue, but the love shines through, constant and undiminished by distance and time.

Part of the charm of "Busted" is watching the relationship between Ray and Fraser grow to encompass something larger: the town of Owl Creek and its denizens, Ray's family back in Chicago, the cops at the 2-7, all entwined together to form a larger whole.

The original characters in this story are wonderfully realized and dynamic, drawing the reader in and not letting go.

"Busted" has so much going for it: great characterization, lovely story-telling, smokin' hot sex, mystery, angst, passion...I always come back to this story, no matter how many times I've read it.

Title: Adorned
Author: [livejournal.com profile] resonant8
Pairing: F/K
Rating: NC17
Length: Medium at ~7k words
Why I'm reccing this fic: I guess I'm a sucker for great Ray-voices. And this is another one. Ray's personality is very vivid and immediate, with so many textural details - I feel like I've met him. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a real person.

Ray is romantic and open and terribly in love with Fraser. And he's waiting to be left behind when Fraser goes home to Canada. He's opened himself up before, with Stella, and it nearly broke him. Yet he doesn't hesitate to do it again, because Fraser is worth it. This story has so many poignant moments as Fraser and Ray struggle to find a balance of what they both want and what they need.

It's interesting to watch Fraser and Ray dance around the specter of Canada in their lives - it's the elephant neither wants to speak of but neither can ignore. Fraser is going back to Canada, it's just a matter of when. And what will happen to Ray when he does?

"Adorned" has everything I could ask for in a story. Realistic characters, ridiculously hot sex, World Wildlife Federation tattoos, reindeer mittens and secretly luxurious Canadian soap. What else does one need?

A brief excerpt )

Adorned

Title: Surface
Author: [livejournal.com profile] imkalena
Pairing: F/K
Rating: NC17
Length: Medium at ~10k words
Why I'm reccing this fic: I love [livejournal.com profile] imkalena's writing. Spare yet richly detailed, she has a way of bringing Ray and Fraser to life and setting them free.

In "Surface," Fraser is driven by his unrequited love of Ray into someone else's arms. Eventually, he realizes that sublimating his desire for Ray isn't working and he throws himself at Ray, wanting, if nothing else, a single night of passion. He doesn't realize that Ray is willing to give him more than just passion. Ray's willing to give Fraser everything. Heart, body, soul.

Watching these two together is awkward in many ways - they both are striving for the same goal, but spend so much time getting in each other's way - it's almost funny.

But it's really the emotions that spark during the sex that makes this fic shine so brightly. Heart-wrenching and honest and raw, this story remains one of my favorites.

Title: Eight Days A Week
Author: Bluebrocade - [livejournal.com profile] bluebrocade
Pairing: F/K
Rating: R
Length: Mid
Why I'm reccing this fic: This is a fic I return to again and again. The Fraser/Dief interaction actually brings tears to my eyes in places. Watching Fraser slowly crack up as he searches for evidence of Ray's new boyfriend is funny and sad, and Ray's bewilderment at Fraser's nutso behaviour is very much in character. And then there's happiness and hotness. I call that a perfect fic. And there's Dief. Did I mention DIef?

Title: I Love You Without Knowing How
Author: China_Shop - [livejournal.com profile] china_shop
Pairing: F/K
Rating: PG-13?
Length: Short
Why I'm reccing this fic: Because it is raw and beautiful and the most romantic thing ever. China has a way of getting to the heart of an emotion and holding it up to the light, so you can see it properly. When I need a quick fix, when I need to remember how much they love each other, when I need to be reminded that they're guys and therefore not so good at the whole talking thing.... this is the fic I go to.

Title: Hanged Man
Author: Speranza - [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza
Pairing: F/K
Rating: PG-17
Length: Long
Why I'm reccing this fic: This fic just takes my breath away. I must have read it thirty times or more. Because they struggle and struggle to find a way to make it work, and they're both kind of damaged and Speranza makes you work SO hard for the happy ending that makes all the angst worthwhile.

"Very much so, yes. In fact," and Fraser's not meeting his eyes, now; Fraser's staring at—what? The square tattoo on his bicep, a red and black Champion logo. "I'm hoping that you'll indulge my, uh, preferences." Fraser's been using his best hoity-toity syntax, but suddenly he lets it drop and looks at Ray with dark, serious eyes. "I haven't had my choice of sexual partners, Ray. The pleasures of my life have been mainly solitary ones. So what I want—I mean, what I really, really want," and Ray didn't know Fraser could sound so excited and needy and desperate, "is to feel your strength and your rhythm and know you're not—me."

Title: Wings Of Desire
Author: [profile] nos4a2no9
Pairing: F/K
Rating: R
Length: Mid
Why I'm reccing this fic:Because it’s just beautiful. It has the same feel to it like the movie – both of them; except for the end of “City Of Angels”. This story breaks my heart every time I read it.

“I saw a man in a red tunic dive onto the back of a moving car,” Ray tries to explain. No need to look at his notebook. “He clung to the top for six blocks until the driver made a mistake. And then the man rolled away and dusted himself off and kept order until the police arrived. A woman in the crowd called him a hero. Later he went back to his apartment and wept.”

Cassiel’s eyes narrow. “Why?”

This is a question Ray can answer. “He thinks he’s alone.”

“He is. They all are.”

Title: Theories Of Flight
Author: [personal profile] lamardeuse
Pairing: F/K
Rating: R
Length: Mid
Why I'm reccing this fic: It hurts. After all the times I read this it still hurts, in a good way.

Not that I blame her for messing up my beautiful shield. It was dulled and chipped and dented nice and slow, so slow I didn't even see the damage right away. When I did figure I was losing it, that I was going to turn around one of these days, and whoops, no shield left, just a few flakes of paint and a rusty handle, I told myself it wasn't something I had any control over. It was the way the world worked, right? There were no more dragons left, just little rats scurrying around at your feet, so who needs a shield? Some of them were fatter than others and had better lawyers, but they were all still rats. Nothing to get worked up about. You are on the job. You are not the job. Skewer as many rats as you can on the end of your sword, but accept that you will always be wading through the fuckers.

Title: Green Suede Boots
Author: [personal profile] china_shop
Pairing: F/K
Rating: R
Length: short
Why I'm reccing this fic: It's hilarious, that's what it is. Such a great study of Frannie.

I tell her I’m not a cop, and that’s when she tries to grab the boots right out of my hands. I need these boots, so I tug as hard as I can, and she lets go and they fly out of my hands too and go hurtling through the air like a watermelon. The left one lands on the cash register, which rings and crashes open, and the right boot goes thud on Fraser’s forehead, where he’s standing by the door, and knocks him out cold. He falls down right in the middle of the moccasin display.

Title: He Hadn't Stopped Christmas From Coming
Author: Belmanoir
Pairing: F/K/V
Rating: NC-17
Length: 21,000 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: I'm sneakily combining both previous challenges with Belmanoir's DSSS fic in which there are a veritable plethora of new beginings. This is an incredibly warm-hearted story bringing together our boys at Christmas time. The characterisation is tight and irresistable. Stella is (off-screen, but still) awesome. Frannie is... oh, Frannie! I love you like nobody's business, here. And Ray and Ray, falling for each other, helplessly, hopelessly. I love it. Plus watching Kowalski play matchmaker is a whole new level of awesome! And it's Hot Liek Whoah! This story makes me very happy.

Why I'm reccing this fic:

Because once I started it, I couldn't put it down. It's a science fiction novel that not only shows off a rich and complicated world, but charts the slowly building relationship between Kowalski and Vecchio. It has snark and spark and humour and warmth, and that kind of Firefly-esque sense of the crew being a family. The supporting cast are wonderful. The UST shimmers. The characters' backstories are original and well thought out. The whole thing rocked my socks.

1. I love how everyone at the 2-7 including Welsh has turned into a smiley pod person. Inexplicable yet hilarious.
2. Kowalski thinks a lot about Vecchio's clothes. He likes his wool coat. Also this: "And how did he keep his clothes all smooth like that? Five minutes in that shirt, and Ray would look like Gigolo: The Morning After, Part II." lolz!

Title: About A Girl
Author: [livejournal.com profile] simplystars
Pairing: Thatcher
Rating: G
Length: ~2500
Why I'm reccing this fic: Because Meg Thatcher had such potential to be a lovely, complex, textured character in the series but wasn't and this story gives us a glimpse of what she could have been.

I remember, when I had originally watched the series, how badly I wanted Meg to be more. And I was terribly disappointed that the writers wouldn't let her be more. She was beautiful, intelligent, accomplished, and polished. And she was portrayed as a shallow, flighty, bitchy shrew; an "Ice Queen" and "Dragon Lady."

"About A Girl" lets Meg Thatcher live up to her full potential as a character. [livejournal.com profile] simplystars deftly weaves a back story for Meg that fits so well it feels like canon. We see Meg's interactions with her father, with Fraser, with Dief and with Ray Kowalski and it's refreshing to view these characters through her eyes.

Title: Guns Don't Kill People
Author: [livejournal.com profile] qe2
Pairing: Fraser/Ray Kowalski
Rating: NC17
Length: ~6000
Warnings: BDSM, not-so-happy
Why I'm reccing this fic: This is a very difficult story to read.

This is not a story about Fraser and Ray sledding off into the sunset to live happily-ever-after in the wild places of Canada. This is the story of two all-too human men and their emotional complexities. This is the story of Ray, who doesn't always have the right words, who doesn't know how to protect Fraser from himself. This is the story of Fraser, who hides so much of himself behind his Mountie persona and the red uniform.

This story is about the imperfect relationship that they have and how they struggle to preserve it. It's about their love and partnership. It's about knowing each other and trust, about control and anger. This is real.

Queue does a wonderful job tackling an extremely sensitive subject with realism and compassion. She brings Ray alive with a smart, savvy voice that is much wiser than we usually give him credit for. She breaks Fraser apart, but gives us the hope that maybe, just maybe, Ray can help put him back together again.

Title: Eight Days A Week
Author: [livejournal.com profile] bluebrocade
Pairing: Fraser/Ray Kowalski
Rating: R
Length: ~4000
Why I'm reccing this fic: This story is a combination of humor and angst, perfectly balanced without tipping over into excessiveness. [livejournal.com profile] bluebrocade intertwines the humor and angst with a light touch. It made me laugh and it made me ache.

[livejournal.com profile] bluebrocade has a wonderful sense of Fraser and all of his insecurities and quirks. The way Fraser and Dief interact is just like two siblings fighting and teasing and picking on each other. Ray wanders cluelessly through the story, unaware of all the wrong conclusions that Fraser is jumping to but baffled by Fraser's strange behavior.

This story was so enjoyable and well written. The plot flows naturally and at the end you feel satisfied with the conclusion. This is one of those stories that you read and say, "I wish I had written that."

And of course, Dief gets the last word.

Title: Tip, Slide, Tumble
Author: J S Cavalcante ([livejournal.com profile] j_s_cavalcante)
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: NC-17
Length: ~42,500 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: This story hits so many of my kinks, it could have been written for me! It's a lovely, long piece, which I didn't even notice right away—I was immediately sucked in by JS's superb Ray voice, tight inside his head as he's slightly off-balance from a shock (see excerpt). As the story unfolds, there's wonderful kid!fic that completely avoids the syrup while still bringing the love. There's the much-needed aftermath of Mountie and Soul and the revisiting of Levon—one of my favorite eps and one-shot characters. There are great and very real original characters in the fic, and Ray interacts with them wonderfully. The reader can very easily see it coming, what Ray is going to do about his situation, and yet JS lets it unfold naturally, without rushing it. And there's what seems to be a clear development of a common romance cliche in the Ray/Fraser storyline, but JS sidesteps it neatly and creates a different and very in-character coming together for them. It's a smart, insightful, emotional, beautifully written story with the pain, humor and love of the best of Due South.

Title: Gone to the Dogs
Author: Vienna Waits ([livejournal.com profile] vienna_waits)
Pairing: Gen
Rating: G
Length: ~12,500 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: Ray has the unenviable assignment of protecting the dog show from protesters. But when the problems escalate to a riot, a dognapping, local mobsters and smuggling, it becomes clear that Dief is Ray and Fraser's ticket to being undercover on the inside. Irresistible, right? Yes! This is a rollicking ride through life inside a dog show, which is in some ways naturally as cracky as the wildest Due South adventures. The story is told from various POVs, but it's Dief's show all the way, from his pining after comely females, to his "training" in the agility ring, to his overcoming stage fright, to his last second heroics. Dief = love, and this story adorably proves it. The feel-good story of 2007!

Author: [livejournal.com profile] aerye
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: hard R
Length: 635 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: This is a fairly short ficlet set during and after Asylum, focusing on, well, see title. An extraordinarily hot story of intense horniness, and not just because it hits me right in the kink. *koff* The events of Asylum are skillfully covered in a very few brief future-tense phrases that contribute to the atmosphere that gets Fraser and Ray into bed.

Title: Wager
Author: [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: NC-17
Length: 2,547 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: Here is the rest of the story of the poker game at the end of Odds. It starts with some lovely Ray and Fraser characterization -- Ray enjoying their connection, their deeper knowledge of each other -- when his understanding of that connection starts to shift and slide into another kind of connection, and then it's "must find a place to get naked now."

Title: Fucking Girls
Author: [livejournal.com profile] pearl_o
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: R
Length: 1,522 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: Here is a different take on Odds, with Ray worried about Fraser in the aftermath of his encounter with Lady Shoes. In a delightful example of the unreliable narrator, Ray is convinced that Fraser is sexless and naive, and that it's up to Ray to clue him in. Meanwhile, it means nothing that Ray's imagination is painting him vivid portraits of Fraser in bed with women. Will Ray learn where his stubbornly blinkered POV has gone wrong?

Title: Christmas Present
Author: Dira Sudis
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: PG
Length: 20K
Why I'm reccing this fic: Episode: Good For The Soul. A rewrite of the ending in which things don't turn out so well for Fraser, but he still has Ray looking out for him. There's a warning for implied violence.

Title: Smooth
Author: Bone
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: NC-17
Length: 33K
Why I'm reccing this fic: Episode: Mountie Sings The Blues. Fraser wants Ray to teach him how to dance. This is Bone - what more do you need?

Title: A Fine and Private Place
Author: Resonant
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: NC-17
Length: 23K
Why I'm reccing this fic: Episode: Eclipse. Fraser is being proactive in pursuing something he wants. This is a really delicious look at partners who don't know each other well, yet, but know what they want.

Why I'm reccing this fic: RayK reflects upon the inevitable kiss on a slow-moving, sultry summer day. Hawt.

Title: Con Job
Author: [livejournal.com profile] keerawa
Pairing: RayK/OMC, RayK/Fraser
Rating: NC-17
Length: 5,300 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: I absolutely broke my heart against this story. 'Con Job' imagines the undercover job prior to the Vecchio job, and the state of mind that conning and betraying guys Ray'd liked would have left him in. This version of Ray struggles with where his covers end and he begins. He is convinced that no one can see through him, and as a result others' trust in him just makes him miserable. It is a wonderfully achy story.

Title: Steam
Author: [livejournal.com profile] arrow00
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: NC-17
Length: 5920 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: Fraser and Ray get tied up together. With rope. In a boiler room. In their underwear. By the Mario brothers. If that isn't enough, then how about fantastic RayK voice, a little bit of Fraser angst, steamy hotness, Fraser whispering to Ray "I've always wanted to kiss you right here" and just all around awesomeness? :)

Title: Les Revenants
Author: [livejournal.com profile] simplystars
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: R
Length: 3450 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: One word: ZOMBIES. But don't let that confuse you, it is not a crack!fic. Quite the contrary, this is a horror story full of angst, violence and death (not Fraser or RayK). It's disturbing, very atmospheric and simply excellent.

Les Revenants (or in English, thank you, Fraser – Zombies, Zombie Town, Zombie Nightmare, Zombiegeddon…)

Title: Lifestyle Choices
Author: [livejournal.com profile] andrastewhite
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski/Vecchio
Rating: PG
Length: 1475 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: This story is adorable, really. Fraser, Ray, Ray and bed-shopping. Rays have their own private Ray stuff! All the voices are just perfect. Sweet, funny and very cute little fic. Made me squee with OT3 joy. :)

Title: Saturday Clothes
Author: [livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds
Pairing: Fraser/RayK, with a smidge of past RayK/Stella
Rating: NC-17
Length: 2,140 words
Why I'm reccing this fic:
Ray catches Fraser wearing old, worn jeans on laundry day. We get to enjoy the sight, too, as Ray gets hornier and hornier, getting a glimpse of this weekend Fraser, different from the Mountie. Wonderfully hot, with just enough funny -- it is Fraser and Ray, after all.

Title: One Small Thing / Operation: Stupid
Author: [livejournal.com profile] arrow00
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: NC-17
Length: 1,840 words / 3,130 words
Why I'm reccing this fic:
Arrow has been producing a tremendous amount of fabulous Due South fic this summer. It was hard to pick a favorite (OMG, the turtle story!), but I think this duo -- a.k.a. the one with the cherry stem -- is an instant classic. The first part features a wonderful Fraser voice, as he frets terribly over how to let Ray know his feelings for him. In the end, proper preparation comes through. The second part is written from Ray's POV, when he should be ecstatic about the way things are going, but has to wrestle his own demons.

Title: Pet Me Poppa
Author: [livejournal.com profile] rispacooper
Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: PG
Length: 2,900 words
Why I'm reccing this fic:
Angst, romance, porn, adventure -- yeah, yeah, yeah. But I am a complete sucker for crack and for schmoopy feel-good fics. This story puts me instantly in my happy place. Simply put, Fraser goes to check on a missing Ray, and finds a strange kitten in his apartment. Kitten! Unbelievably cute! If you're prone to sugar shock, flee like the wind. Everyone else, prepare to say, "Aaaw."

Title: Bright Red and Moving Fast
Author: [livejournal.com profile] boombangbing
Characters: Fraser, RayK
Rating: G
Length: 1500 words

Why I'm reccing this fic:
This is an AU in which Fraser is a superhero. How come we never realised it before? Unfortunately, running around saving people is considered vigilante action, and Ray has been assigned to his case… Charming, lighthearted and fluidly written.

Title: Teething Problems
Author: [livejournal.com profile] boombangbing
Characters: Fraser, RayK
Rating: PG
Length: 1750

Why I'm reccing this fic:
The sequel to Bright Red and Moving Fast, although it can be read on it’s own as well. Benton Fraser; by day a mild-mannered librarian, by night…still mild-mannered.

Title: The Magnificent Seven
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lemarechal
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: NC-17
Length: 11,000 words

Why I'm reccing this fic:
At 11k you might want to bookmark this for the weekend, but I can guarantee it will be worth it. [livejournal.com profile] lemarechal blends normality and crack to that perfect pitch we’ve come to expect from dS. It’s funny, slightly crazy, sexy and sweet.
