Hi all,

You guys have been making wonderful posts about the characters you love on Due South. Sharing the squee is a vital part of fandom, and we at Recsredux are all about the squee. So here's your friendly reminder that today, April 8 is the last day to slip in that final word about the guy you love. Fraser, Kowalski, Vecchio--what's so great about them? You tell us. Wanna discuss your thoughs on Fraser: A Guy With a Groovy Hat? We wanna hear it! This challenge closes tonight. New challenge up tomorrow.

Have fun!

I want to slap him silly, hug him tight and drool all over him just like most of the female characters that had a walk-on or a larger role on Due South. Often I want to do all these at the same time. It can be very confusing.

Benton Fraser is a well-mannered goody-two-shoes with yummy good looks. His niceness and his loonieness are his super powers, they often get him his way - Fraser is the nicest manipulator you could ever meet. He is also stubborn, passive-aggressive and ruthless when needed. He is a very good man but not a flawless man - when he falls off the virtue wagon, he falls hard. A bullet in the back is all that keeps him from running off with a murdering bank-robber.

As a friend to Benton Fraser Ray Vecchio went way beyond where most men would have or could have gone. Ray Vecchio stayed a true friend to Fraser even through and after the Victoria debacle - it wasn't just Fraser who almost was destroyed during that period. Yet the friendship survived and thrived. I choose to believe that Vecchio and Fraser stayed good friends their entire lives, no matter how much geographical distance may have been between them.

Here are three stories that I think show how lovely and complex a man Ray Vecchio is:

He is changeable like quicksilver, but very loyal at the same time. He is always fascinating, whether he is on his own or romantically paired with other people. He is sexy as hell. He presents a tough shell to the world, but is a soft marshmellow on the inside. He has inspired many talented writers to create wonderful stories in the Due South fandom.

A few examples of stories and writers who have captured the essence of Ray Kowalski:

I tried not to procrastinate about posting a few recs for stories that I love about Fraser and, well, here I am, Monday night barely making the deadline...
