Title: untitled
Author: [livejournal.com profile] mickeymvt
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: Nrrgh. I mean, mature.
Length: ficlet
Why I'm reccing this fic: It's short, but sexy! Plus, Hockey Day! There's a great reason for a holiday!

untitled Hockey Day ficlet

Title: Christmas Present
Author: Dira Sudis
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: Man, I hate trying to guess for other people's work. Teen for implied violence?
Length: 3,358 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: Because it'll rip your heart out, stomp on it, then cellotape it back together. An AU of "Good for the Soul," with less magical in its realism -- Fraser doesn't walk away from the alley outside Warfield's club under his own power. I love the intercut conversations that happen bedside.

Christmas Present

Title: He Hadn't Stopped Christmas From Coming
Author: [livejournal.com profile] belmanoir
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski/Vecchio
Rating: NC-17
Length: 21,436 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: Because I love F/K/V, and this one's pretty awesome. Vecchio and Kowalski are alternately assholes and adorable to each other as they deal with the approaching holiday, possibly unrequited crushes on Fraser, misunderstandings that pre-date Vegas, and a growing attraction to one another. The attempts of each to give up his own happiness for another's begin to approach O. Henry levels -- before they find a way to a happy conclusion for all.

Title: Luckier than most, with your memories and ghosts
Author: [livejournal.com profile] belmanoir
Pairing: Fraser/Vecchio
Rating: G for gen
Length: 1457
Why I'm reccing this fic: Okay, yes, two by one author. But seriously -- Fraser and Vecchio on VICTORIA DAY. Admit it, you are intrigued already.

Hi, everybody! Did you miss us?

We've been doing some plotting and planning behind the scenes to get [livejournal.com profile] ds_recsredux up and reccing again -- tossing thoughts around, informally polling due South chat participants, checking out the recs comms for other fandoms... we think we have some good ideas that we'll be rolling out in the coming months.

But none of these ideas will work without you.

This is your comm. It's for you. Use it as much as you want, whenever you want, to rec what you want. )

DS Recsredux: All Recs. No Limits.

Since we're coming off of Halloween and into fanwork exchange season, the challenge for the month of November is holidays. Winter or summer, major or obscure -- rec us your favorite stories, vids and other fanworks featuring the characters celebrating (or avoiding) a holiday. And if someone wants to rec spooky/ghost stories that aren't strictly Halloween tales, I won't tell. Or if someone interprets 'holiday' to mean 'vacation' and starts talking road trips. The more recs, the merrier!

Finally, we really want to bring back the guest reccers! We'd like to enlist two reccers per month, each posting once per week to a theme of their own choosing. Guest reccing is your chance to talk about favorite fanworks and favorite canon moments, due South proper and the six degrees fandoms. If you're interested -- or even think you might be interested but want to discuss it before committing to a month, please comment here or contact your friendly neighborhood mods ([livejournal.com profile] ifreet or [livejournal.com profile] dessert_first) directly.

Title: Away
Author: Te
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: PG or less
Length: ~2700 words

Why I'm reccing this fic: Because it's the literary equivalent of a cozy blanket and a mug of hot mulled cider on a cold, snowy night. It's sweet without being saccharine, has voices so spot on you can hear them in your head, and is chock-full of warm, witty F/K banter. Add to that a Charlie Brown tree and two lonely guys who manage to dream it, and themselves, into something bigger, together.

This is an older fic, so a lot of you might have already read it. If you have, read it again. If not, you're in for a treat. Either way, it'll make you feel a little better about whatever your situation is.

You guys!! You guys, it is now December. Where did you go, 2008? This also marks the ending of the first year as co-co-mods for [livejournal.com profile] ignazwisdom, [livejournal.com profile] nos4a2no9 and myself. Whee!

We're so happy that [livejournal.com profile] justbreathe80 and [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl let us run with this wonderful comm they founded. And we're so grateful to all of you for reading, reccing, commenting and generally making it all happen. You've shared amazing stories, from the wonder and joy of that first realization of love to the rich wealth of lives shared. The characters we love have come alive: loving, fighting, growing and adapting as gifted writers set fingers to keyboards and let their imaginations roam. Here's to many more years of the funny, the sweet, the hot and the snarky, and our beloved boys and girls of Due South.

Thank you all for being awesome.
