Title: Chicago, 1968
Author: Melanie Mitchell
Pairing: none
Rating: maybe PG
Length: 100K
Why I'm reccing this fic: This is one of those stories that I had put aside to read 'someday' and then when I finally got around to reading it wondered why I had waited so long! It is a wonderful, emotional look at a possible backstory for Harding Welsh and takes place during the time of the Chicago riots of 1968 when he would have been a 22 year old patrolman and is torn between his family and his beliefs. One of those stories that you adopt into your own 'canon' after reading.

Title: Changed
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lucifercircle
Pairing: none
Rating: PG
Length: 350 words
Why I'm reccing this fic:

Because it is Frannie! Because [livejournal.com profile] lucifercircle does SO very much with so few words. Because the world needs more stories exploring how Vegas changed Vecchio. Because I love this story more than is healthy. And because Frannie kind of kicks ass.

Title: Stronger
Author: [livejournal.com profile] vienna_waits
Pairing: none
Rating: Unrated, but I'd probably give it NC-17 and a warning for non-con of two minors and rape of a minor, in addition to graphic violence.
Length: medium
Why I'm reccing this fic:

Because while I can not re-read this story all the way through in one sitting, that is only a testament to how powerfully moving this story is. It is Mort and his time in the concentration camps. If this sort of thing bothers you at all, I would recomend giving it a pass, because [livejournal.com profile] vienna_waits does an AMAZINGLY accurate depiction of the horrors of the camps. But if you can stand it, you will not be disapointed. Just crying. (And happy ending! Promise!)

Title: Love's a Loaded Gun
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lipstickcat
Pairing: Turnbull/Kowalski
Rating: NC-17
Length: Short
Why I'm reccing this fic:

Two words - Gun. Kink. And Turnbull just needs more lovin'! And for those of you who have mental blocks about poor Turnbull's sex life, PLEASE allow this to change your mind! Because it is hot, hot, hot! :o)

Title: Just Desserts
Author: [livejournal.com profile] china_shop
Pairing: Fraser/Stella
Rating: R
Length: long
Why I'm reccing this fic: This is the fic responsible for infecting me with the Fraser/Stella bug, and it's wonderful. Ray leaves Fraser, and Ray leaves Stella, and they find themselves together. This Stella is so real and human and wonderful, and I kind of love the happy ending.

Title: line upon line of cocaine
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lalejandra
Pairing: Kowalski/Stella
Rating: NC-17
Length: medium
Why I'm reccing this fic: God, I have SUCH a thing for bad boy Ray, but that's not why I love it. Well, it's just one part. Mostly, it's just young Stella through a young Ray's eyes, and you can almost TASTE the 80s and the cocaine and the dance floor. So fucking hot, and I LOVE this Stella.

Title: Green Suede Boots
Author: [livejournal.com profile] china_shop
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski & Frannie
Rating: G
Length: 20k
Why I'm reccing this fic: It features a wonderful Frannie who just doesn't get it. She goes on a ride-along with Fraser & Kowalski, trying to figure out a little mystery but gets distracted by the eponymous green suede boots.

Hello! This week's challenge is the Secondary Character Challenge. One of the wonderful things (besides the GAY) about Due South are the wonderful secondary characters who populate the DS universe. Frannie, Welsh, Huey, Dewey, Stella, dead!Bob, just to name a few.

So, this week's challenge is to rec fics that represent these wonderful, well-loved secondary characters. They can be secondary character-centric, or from a secondary character POV, or even just a particularly well drawn secondary character in any fic. It's your choice! What fics have secondary characters who speak to you?

The challenge will be open until Sunday, February 25 until around midnight (or, you know, Monday morning, since I am so pretty lately). Go forth and rec!

Title: Kowalski
Author: [livejournal.com profile] kormantic
Pairing: Stella/RayK, Stella/RayV (mentioned)
Rating: R
Length: short
Why I'm reccing this fic: there are so few women in dS, so it always makes me happy to see an author make the effort to take one of the female characters and give her more life and depth than what canon shows us. this fic does a wonderful job with Stella, who's usually shown as Ray's stone bitch ex. and hey, she does have balls of steel, but she has to. and it doesn't mean she's frozen to the core.

Title: An Officer And A Gentleman
Author: [livejournal.com profile] laurakaye
Pairing: Frannie/Welsh
Rating: PG
Length: middle-ish
Why I'm reccing this fic: because "Harding." and "Francesca." Frannie's a cop (how it should have turned out!) and she and Welsh cross paths. there's a boring date, a neurotic old Italian lady, and a very large and nosy Italian family. it's just all kinds of adorable.
