This is the second (and last) installment of my guest reccing stint here. It was fun and I hope that you got something out of my recs! Now on to the guys.

Bob Fraser is the reason why we're all here today. If he hadn't gotten himself killed ... well. (Un)Fortunately we didn't get to meet him during his lifetime, but he was annoying enough as a ghost. Still, he had a life (of some kind) before he died, a life we don't know that much about - at least not about the stuff that really matters. So, have a short little story here.
The Great Yukon Douglas Fir Double-Telescoping Bank Shot by Loz is about the famous shot with which Bob saved Caroline. Loz added a touch of Frobisher/Bob, which makes the story all the dearer to me.

Mark Smithbauer, Fraser's old childhood friend (and, if you take my line of reasoning, his first boyfriend in a manner). I read some stories about Mark before I ever watched the The Blue Line and I have to admit that my enthusiasm decreased some, after I had did. Still, he's one of those people you can't get around if you're interested in Fraser's life before Chicago.
Line of Sight by Kalena (Fraser/Smithbauer) goes along with the episode. It fits in very well with what we see on-screen and it also gives a good picture of the emotional consequences.
Mark's Story, Written on the Body by Colleen Kane, on the other hand, is really all about Mark. I'm linking to the
crack_van page here, because it's a set of stories and all of them are worth reading. Mark falls in love with an OMC and discovers that he is HIV positive. The story is well-written and realistic.

"A man with style is a man who can smile."
Asylum is my favourite episode. And (I'm a lucky girl) I'm not the only one who is convinced that Ray and Volpe? TOTALLY GOT IT ON. I'm very grateful for that, people.
Kahlua by Te (Kowalski/Volpe) tells us the story how Ray met Volpe. It is hot and awesome and it's by TE.
Asylum Redux (Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses) by China (Kowalski/Volpe, F/K) is ♥ China incorporates the magic realism that dS is so full of and makes Volpe a ghost. Who then is haunting Ray.
Masquerade by Omphale and Slidellra (Kowalski/Volpe, F/K) - okay, this is a little cheat. Volpe isn't one of the main characters here, but he does feature heavily (basically the whole thing that's happening to Ray is Volpe's fault). Also, I need to rec this story in regular intervals because it's that wonderful. (I may be a little bit partial; I belonged to the legion of betas for this baby). It is an AU based on the movie Charade. O and Sli pull it off in very, very awesome ways.

Less Than You Think by Brooklinegirl and Getting Used to Leaving by Brooklinegirl deal with an interesting pairing: RayK/Gardino. It works, though. In strange, but very hot ways.
Red Like Bleeding by JS Cavalcante (Fraser/Huey) - I need to rec this becaus JS pulled off a pairing that encompasses so much of what dS is to me. Meaning: you can pretty much do anything. No pairing, no plot is too "off" for this fandom, there are always ways to make things work and that makes it endearing to me.
The story is set right after the funeral and it is very hot, a little bit sad, but so worth reading. Even if you think that this cannot work, please give this story a chance - it deserves one.
Same procedure as last time: now it's time for you to tell me all about your favourite fics with those characters! Or Turnbull. Or Dewey. Or Mort. Or Welsh. All of which I had to leave out because I? Cannot read a calendar. Or, okay, I can READ, but I have a mental disconnect between "May 5th" and "tomorrow" and "this Monday".
I had fun and I hope you had some, too!

Date: 2008-05-05 03:07 pm (UTC)Melanie Mitchell's Chicago, 1968 (http://www.squidge.org/dsa/archive/drama/chicago1968.html), in which Welsh is a young cop at odds with his police sergeant father during the riots at the Democratic Convention.
There are two of Shay Sheridan's Welsh stories I really like: Keeping Watch (http://www.chezshay.net/stories/keepingwatch.html) and Turnaround (http://www.chezshay.net/stories/Turnabout.html) (the latter with bonus great Dewey).
